I’ve been asked to create a special project that involves flowers! Lots and lots of pretty flowers! The project is top secret for now (don’t worry, I’ll share once it’s done) but I thought it wouldn’t hurt to give a sneak peek.
I just love these flowers! You can find many crochet flower patterns with a quick internet search but here are the two I’m going to use for this project: Wind Rose Fiber Studio’s Deco Rose pattern and the crochet roses shown in the picture above are found at Free Craft Unlimited. Here are the basic steps:
Leaving a 10-12 inch tail, chain 41.
Row 1 – Dc in 4th chain from hook. Ch 2, 2 dc in same space. *Ch 1, skip 2 chains. In next chain 2 dc, 2 ch, 2 dc. Repeat from * to the end. Ch 1, turn.
Row 2 – Slip stitch into first ch 2 space. Chain 3, 6 dc in same space. *Sc in ch 1 space. 7 dc in next ch 2 space. Repeat from * to the end. Fasten off.
Thread the tail of yarn onto a needle. As you roll the piece to create the shape of a rose (Figure 1), stitch along the bottom (along the starting chain) where the wraps come together.
They are so fun and so easy to make. And you can easily change the size by making more or less chains at the beginning. And the color possibilities are of course endless! So have fun with it, and stay tuned to see what I’m making with these beautiful flowers…. coming soon! Follow Shanonigans on Facebook to stay in the loop!
